HOME DEPOT & WALMART COLONNADE

Avon, CO, USA

Award: Citation, North American Wood Design Awards

The concept of this project lies in the response to minimize and consolidate the scale between the pedestrian and the massive size of the "big box" retail structures. In addition to locating the retail buildings against the valley slope, the solution was to create a covered colonnade canopy structure which would become the dominant relief element also serving to unify and connect the expression of the two retailers.

Architects: Nick Milkovich Architects with Arthur Erickson
